the formation process

The 34th General Congregation of the Society of Jesus tells us:

'We should conceive and plan for the total formation of our members as a process of progressive integration of the spiritual and community life, of the apostolate, and of studies, in such a way that the richness of the spiritual life should be the source of the apostolate, and the apostolate in turn the motive for study and for a deeper spiritual life.'

So the process of formation can be seen as having four interacting elements:

 spiritual life

 community life

 apostolate

 studies
