James Conway SJ

What do I do?  My Jesuit formation has given me numerous opportunities to work in the social apostolate.

During my studies of Philosophy, I became involved with the anti-poverty group ATD Fourth World and came to know the difficulties facing many poor families and individuals living in a rich, western country like the UK.

It helped me to understand the complexity of dealing with systems, such as that of our health and education service or legal systems that, if not understood, can lead to exclusion.

It raised my awareness of my own desire to accompany those who, for whatever reason, are excluded from actively participating in decision-making processes and in the structures that govern society.
