Until recently, I was the Parish Priest of St Ignatius Church, in the multicultural London parish of Stamford Hill.   That makes it sound as if I was a very busy person - but in fact, I spent a great deal of time letting other people do things.

I came to Stamford Hill after 13 years on "the missions" in Guyana.   Maybe the provincial figured that Stamford Hill was the closest thing to working "abroad" within the UK.   It was certainly a challenge being a leader in faith of such a diverse Catholic community.   At our last St Ignatius day celebrations we encouraged each community to donate their national flag.   We had 32 flags and an equal number of cuisines at the fiesta that followed the Mass.
