Nick King's translation inspires Passion

Oxford Jesuit Nick King's translation of the New Testament is being used as the basis for the Oxford Passion which opens in the town next week.

Subtitled 'Who do you say I am?', the Passion is being presented by the Creation Theatre Company as part of the Oxfordshire 2007 celebrations.  It was written by Lizzie Hopley who says that the 'fresh translation' of the New Testament by Nick King was the original inspiration of this contemporary re-telling of the Passion story.  Nick is Tutor in Biblical Studies at Campion Hall.

In the style of the traditional street theatre of the Mystery Play, the Oxford Passion features a large community chorus.  It will be staged in the Open Air Theatre at Oxford Castle from Wednesday 1 August until Saturday 8 September.
