Dancer: Stonyhurst alumnus Emanuel Tabone

Former Stonyhurst student is TV dance star

Emanuel Tabone is the latest alumnus of the British Jesuits to star on television in an entertainment show.  After rugby player Kyran Bracken's success in Dancing on Ice, and Michael Charbel (formerly of St Ignatius Enfield) singing for Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest, 23 year old Emanuel has been enjoying success on BBC1's DanceX.

Originally from Malta, he was sent as a boarder to Stonyhurst College at the age of 13 by his father who wanted him to get a good education so he could eventually take over the family business.  After completing his GCSEs and A Levels, he returned to Malta where he worked with his father for two years before entering a TV talent show.  Emanuel beat more than 200 others to claim the first prize: a three year scholarship to Bodywork dance school in Cambridge.  Earlier this year, he successfully auditioned for the BBC series in which two teams of dancers compete against each other.  Emanuel is a member of Arlene Phillips' team.

Emanuel's mum Doris, dad Emanuel, and sisters Rose and Carol all still live in Malta.  He has a girlfriend, Cara, whom he met on his course and he recently returned to Malta to perform his final degree show in front of his extended family, many of whom had never seen him dance.
