Margaret Silf

British retreat director to work in Australian Spirituality Centres

International speaker, facilitator and retreat director Margaret Silf will be conducting a series seminars, workshops, retreats and meetings for the Australian Centres of Ignatian Spirituality early next year.

Margaret was trained by the Jesuits of the British Province to accompany and guide others in prayer.  She left her job as a technical writer in the computer industry in 2000 to work full-time as a spiritual facilitator and author.  She holds a BA degree in English from London University and a Masters degree from Keel University.

'Margaret is one of those rare creatures who is quite brilliant in her area and astonishingly humble, and incredibly articulate, in the way she speaks about and applies Ignatian spirituality', says Ruth Morgan, director of the Canisius Centre of Igantian Spirituality.  Margaret uses an experiential approach in her teaching, inviting pilgrims to explore Christian truths in the light of their personal experiences.

'Margaret has an extraordinary ability to re-language the Exercises in a way which makes the process extremely accessible to contemporary women and men,' according to Ruth.

Margaret Silf has written many books on the spiritual journey for modern-day pilgrims, including Landmarks, Taste and See, Wayfaring, Sacred Spaces, At Sea with God, The Way of Wisdom and Roots and Wings - The human journey from a speck of stardust to a spark of God.  She is also a regular columnist for America magazine and contributor to the 'New Daylight', devotional notes produced by the charity Bible Reading Fellowship.

Margaret is scheduled to arrive in Melbourne in January and will travel between different Australian cities for various programs organised by the CIS.  She will return home in March.
