New book on Luke by Oxford Jesuit
A new book on Jesus as found in Luke's Gospel has just been published. Rediscovering Jesus: a pilgrim's guide to the land, the personalities and the language of Luke has been written by Oxford-based Jesuit, Peter Edmonds, who is tutor in biblical studies at Campion Hall.
The book originated, according to Peter, as a series of talks: 'Last year I was invited to Jerusalem to teach St Luke for a month to a group of pilgrims at the Ecce Homo convent in the Old City,' he says. 'Afterwards Kevin Mayhew encouraged me to write up the various handouts into book form, which I did.'
Rediscover Jesus is ideal for any group that is open to the serious study of Luke's gospel - parish groups, scriptural study groups, and individuals and students in any kind of formation, says the Kevin Mayhew web site. 'The author's aim is to enable those who take part in this study guide to really feel as if they are present with Jesus at the time the story told in Luke's gospel was unfolding. Thus, the book's subtitle emphasising the land, the personalities and the language. Two introductory chapters which immerse the participants in Luke's text are followed by seven studies of the major themes.'
Rediscovering Jesus: a pilgrim's guide to the land, the personalities and the language of Luke by Peter Edmonds costs £9.99 and is 144 pages long - paperback. Published by Kevin Mayhew (ISBN: 978 1 84417 844 5) and available here by clicking on the web link below.
