Ignatius Day - a warm welcome to Jesuit alumni

Former students of Jesuit schools and colleges are warmly invited to come together to celebrate the Feast of the founder of the Society of Jesus, St Ignatius Loyola, on 31 July.

In a joint initiative of FSPlus (First Sunday Plus, the Young Adult Ministry of the British Jesuits) and Farm Street parish in London, it is hoped that alumni and alumnae, young and old, from Jesuit schools and works all round the globe, will gather at Farm Street Church on Thursday, 31 July for Mass followed by a reception.

'We want them to know that they have always a welcome here, be it at the young adult events or at the parish,' says Fr David Stewart SJ, the Director of FSPlus. 'So far there's been a strong response from many parts of the US and Ireland, as well as from Jesuit schools in the United Kingdom,'

The Mass will take place at 6pm on 31 July, at Farm Street Church in Mayfair, London W1K 3AH.  There is a new dedicated e-mail address for this event which will be answered by an alumnus volunteer: 31stjuly@farmstreetchurch.info.

For former students for whom London is a little far south, there will also be a Mass for alumni at St Francis Xavier Church in Liverpool, at which the British Provincial, Fr Michael Holman SJ, will be the principal concelebrant.  This will start at 6.30pm and will be followed by a reception and an opportunity to look around the prestigious Held in Trust exhibition, celebrating 2000 years of Sacred Heritage and being staged as part of Liverpool's celebrations as European Capital of Culture.
