Pupils visit St Thérèse's relics
A group of pupils and staff from Stonyhurst College, Lancashire, have visited the relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux at Salford Cathedral. Their pilgrimage was led by the school's chaplains, Fr John Twist SJ and Miss Sarah Young.
The visit to view the relics, which are being venerated at churches and cathedrals throughout the country until 16 October, was partly inspired by the words of former Stonyhurst pupil, Bishop Crispian Hollis. The Bishop of Portsmouth remarked recently that the visit of the relics to his diocese had been one of his proudest moments.
Mr Damien Morley, a languages teacher at Stonyhurst College, said, 'We hope that, each in our own way, we can put this inspiring young saint's message of love in the little things into practice in our everyday lives at Stonyhurst. The atmosphere of prayer was very special and there was also a deep sense of peace and joy around the cathedral.'
