The Christmas lights in Liverpool City Centre

Silent Nights in Liverpool

Once again this year LOYOLA-metro is running its popular Silence in the City event in Liverpool's city centre on the Thursdays of Advent.

Silence in the City is series of quiet, reflective Advent prayer sessions in preparation for Christmas.  It is open to all and is led by Fr Ian Tomlinson SJ of Loyola Hall, Prescot.  The hour-long sessions start with refreshments at 5pm.  They will be taking place on December 3, 10 and 17 in the room above the Pauline Bookshop in Bold Street, Liverpool.

Brother Ken Vance SJ of St Francis Xavier's Church in Everton says that this Advent event has regularly attracted Christmas shoppers, who appreciate an oasis of calm in the turmoil of the City Centre. 'It will all be over by 6 o'clock though,' he says. 'So participants will still have the chance to do a bit of late night Christmas shopping before going home.'
