Christmas garlands represent both teams in Liverpool

For many years members of St Francis Xavier's (SFX) Church in Liverpool have decorated their beautiful church at Christmas with an array of red and white garlands, flowers, baubles and ribbons.  However, for the same length of time, parishioners who support Everton football club have complained that the colour scheme only pleases Liverpool supporters.

This year they have come up with a solution.  The main body of the church will be decorated in the usual way, but the adjoining large Lady Chapel - which is used for weekday services - will be decked out in Everton's colours - blue and white.  As one parishioner put it: God's team is Red and his Mother's is Blue.

A further step toward Peace on Earth this Christmas - well at least at SFX in Liverpool!
