Jubilarians: Brothers James Spence and Ted Coyle

July Jubilees in the British Province

Two Jesuit Brothers of the British Province are celebrating a total of 110 years in the Society of Jesus this month.

Brother Edward (Ted) Coyle entered the Society on 6 July 1950, shortly before his 18th birthday.  He is currently a member of the Jesuit Community at Sacred Heart in Edinburgh, and serves as a hospital chaplain.  Fellow Brother, James Spence celebrates his Golden Jubilee in the Society tomorrow (30 July).  He is one of the team that provides spiritual direction at the Ignatian Spirituality Centre in Glasgow.

Earlier this month, four Jesuit priests celebrated the Silver Jubilees of their ordination: Fathers Michael Ashworth, Eddie Bermingham, David Birchall and Philip Endean were ordained at Holy Name Church in Manchester by Bishop (now Archbishop) Patrick Kelly in July 1985.
