Amazon/JRS deal provides vital passes

JRS-UK has benefitted to the tune of over £100, due to an arrangement with Amazon.  And from this month, it will be even easier to take part in the scheme.

Before Christmas, JRS-UK announced that it would receive 5% of the purchase price from any transaction that went through a specific JRS link.  This generated £120 which is being used to help refugees get to important appointments, such as immigration agencies. 'We have been able to provide 30 bus passes to refugees with no support, so that they can keep these appointments,' says Fr Jim Conway SJ. 'Thank you so much to all those who have bought books, CDs and other items on Amazon via the JRS link.  It really does make a difference!'

And now the link has been simplified to make it even easier to buy on-line and support JRS-UK.  Simply go to tinyurl.com/amazonjrs and complete your transaction in the usual way.

JRS-UK's Director, Louise Zanré, says that addressing refugees' practical needs is a significant part of their work. 'None of this is possible without the help of you, our supports and donors.  It is from you that we get our magnificent volunteers, prayerful support and donations.  And in the past year, that support has been more essential than ever, as the recession has made things so difficult for our refugee friends, who are dependent of charity and kindness to survive.'

So if you are planning to buy anything on Amazon, please make sure you are helping JRS-UK at the same time.  Simply log onto tinyurl.com/amazonjrs so that your purchases will generate an extra 5% to help refugees and asylum seekers.
