Keeping Silent for Young People
Do you want to get involved in the Million Minutes initiative to help young people transform their lives?
Danny Curtin, one of the organizers writes: We were really pleased with how the launch of a Million Minutes went last month, how many people came and how many minutes of silence were pledged. Nearly 380,000 minutes in total.
To reach a million minutes we need more people to pledge to stay silent. We're asking people to stay silent in solidarity with young people silenced by society, to raise money for projects that support them, and as a chance to take some time out of the busyness of life and consider some of the more important things for a day.
It's really straightforward to pledge minutes, and you don't have to only do it for yourself - you can encourage others to pledge too!
All you have to do is register at www.millionminutes.org (link below) so we can keep track of your pledge. From there, we've put resources together to make converting your pledges into minutes as easy as possible.
First up, we've joined up with bmycharity.com to make online fundraising really easy for you. Create your online fundraising page here. Just fill in your details, and you will be taken through to create your Million Minutes page. Remember to share your page with all the people you know.
And there are also sponsorship forms at millionminutes.org/resources if you want to collect support the old fashioned way! We'll be releasing other resources as we approach the big day (May 8). Make sure you're kept up to speed about them by joining our Facebook page facebook.com/millionminutes, and follow us on Twitter using @Million_Minutes
With your support we can realise a million minutes of silence, standing in solidarity with young people, and raise money for brilliant projects that will help young people transform their lives.
Best wishes, Danny on behalf of the Million Minutes team
