Scripture and the Great Religions

A new series of talks at the Lauriston Jesuit Centre in Edinburgh starts next week. Scripture and the Great Religions will take place on Thursday evenings, and will cover Hinduism and Buddhism, as well as the three monotheistic faiths of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

On Thursday 13 October, Fr James Crampsey SJ, the Superior of the Edinburgh Jesuit Community, will speak on
Scripture and Christianity.  The following week, the speaker will be Professor Hugh Goddard, who will address
Scripture and Islam.

Isabel Smyth SND will consider Scripture and Hinduism on Thursday 27 October; while Fr Michael Barnes SJ of the Theology Department at Heythrop College University of London will turn the spotlight on Scripture and Buddhism at the talk on 3 November.

On Thursday 10 November, the topic will be Scripture and Judaism (speaker to be announced).  And the series will conclude on Thursday 17 November with a Reflection on Scripture and Religion, led by Isabel Smyth SND and Rev Dominic Ind.
