Congratulations to Bernard Hall, the senior member of the Province, who on Tuesday 17th October celebrates his 96th birthday. We have had news from the Irish Province of the death of Mario D'Souza. Mario was a scholastic there in the early 1980's, and well-known to a number of members of this Province. Some time after he left the Society, he joined the Basilian Fathers, but kept in touch with Tom Layden, the former Irish Provincial. Prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of John Holden, husband of Rita, and a longstanding and dedicated parishioner of St Peters', Stonyhurst with St Joseph's and living in Hurst Green, who died on Sunday, October 1st. He will be well-known to many who have attended Jesuit Parish gatherings in recent years. He will be buried from St Peter's, Stonyhurst on Saturday, October 7th at 11.00am. May he rest in peace.

Your prayers are asked for two friends of the Province who have died recently, Ralph Tanner and Charles Forrester. Ralph Tanner, who died on 1st August at the age of 95, taught sociology at Heythrop when it first moved to London in 1970. Charles Forrester, who was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Wimbledon, and nephew of Jesuits William and Anthony Forrester, died on the 10th August. May they rest in peace.
