In my seventh year as a Jesuit in Bombay, I volunteered for the mission of Guyana, part of the British Province. It wasn't difficult to adjust. Guyana is now my home where I have lived for 27 years and journeyed with Guyanese priests, religious and Caribbean people who make up the diversity of cultures. The majority of Guyanese are non-Christian and so this country is virgin territory to make Christ known. This can only be done by one's personal commitment to God, to work, to one's ideals and to the people one serves. All of this is what my Jesuit vocation calls me to do and challenges me to be.
