Jesuits worldwide
Like the Catholic Church itself, Jesuits are present in nearly every country in the world. Currently, the Society of Jesus numbers around 20,000 members, engaged in a wide variety of ministries.
For the purposes of administration, the worldwide Society is divided into 'Provinces'. In many cases, a Province covers an entire country (as in the Irish Province, the French Province, the Colombian Province). In some cases, a Province covers more than one country (for instance, the East African Province). But, where a country has a very large number of Jesuits, it may be divided into a number of Provinces (as is the case in India, Spain and the United States).
Some Provinces are listed on our links page. For a comprehensive guide to the Society of Jesus all over the world, you can use the clickable world map of the sjweb.info site, based in Rome.
