The Jesuits in Britain celebrated the achievements of their Jubilarians at mass and dinner last night  at the Hayes Conference Centre in Swanick, Derbyshire, where all Jesuits of the British Province aged over 65 are gathered for a Province Meeting.

Presiding at mass was Fr Tony Nye SJ of the Farm St parish in London.  Fr Tony is himself celebrating 60 years in the Society of Jesus.  You can read his homily on our blog.

Others present who celebrate jubilees this year included:

Fr Provincial Dermot Preston SJ - in the priesthood 25 years

Dr Cuddihy addresses the Province MeetingFollowing the dinner all present enjoyed a speech by Dr Nicholas Cuddihy, the new Head Teacher at Mount St Mary’s College in Spinkhill and formerly of Crescent College Comprehensive in Limerick.  Dr Cuddihy spoke on the theme of hospitality and leadership, drawing on his experience as the Head teacher of two different Jesuit schools.  He expressed his gratitude for the excellent support and welcome he had always received from the Jesuits, and particularly valued their understanding of different cultural needs.
