The Future of food in Zambia: A Climate Change warning

Leonard Chiti
Leonard Chiti

Jesuit Missions is delighted to welcome Fr Leonard Chiti SJ to the UK in September. Fr Leonard is the Provincial Superior of the Zambia-Malawi Province and former Coordinator of the Global Ignatian Advocacy Network and Director of the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection in Lusaka, Zambia.

Fr Leonard will speak at various Jesuit schools and parishes during his visit about the effects of climate change on food production in Zambia. He will look at ways in which Zambia can develop their farming methods in order to be more sustainable and adapt to the changing climate.

Developing countries such as Zambia often rely on local agriculture for both employment and food supply meaning that changes in climate can have a huge effect on the economic status of the country. In recent years we have seen an increase in climate related disasters such as Cyclone Idai which affected Southern Africa earlier this year. Read more on Jesuit Missions website.

The tour starts on the weekend of 28th/29th September, at St Aloysius. Fr Leonard will talk during the appeal at all masses.
