Jonathan Moore volunteering at JRS
Jonathan Moore, whose play Iñigo on the life of St Ignatius had great success in London earlier this year, is volunteering his time to direct Acting and Drama workshops with refugees for the Jesuit Refugee Service at the Hurtado Centre in Wapping.
The workshops take place weekly and are attended by a diverse group of asylum seekers from countries including DRC, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Russia and Belarus.
Moore commented “the participants enjoy the relaxed, fun atmosphere in which they can explore their imaginations and use acting techniques to grow in confidence, improve their English and tell their stories through the medium of drama.”
This is the second time he has offered these workshops to friends at JRS. He is assisted by John Moffatt SJ, a member of the Hurtado Jesuit community, who worked with Drama while Oxford University Chaplain.
Moore’s play text of Iñigo has now been published to critical acclaim:
"Brilliantly written" Mark Lawson.
"This is the most interesting play text to have reached me for a while,
topical and relevant...thoughtful, engaging and very funny... Read the text!" The Stage
