St Ignatius' harmonious success
The Close Harmony Group of St Ignatius College in Enfield has won the Music for Youth Regional Festival and will be competing at the national final in Birmingham Symphony Hall on 8 July. The singers represented the college in the South East of England heats in Islington, competing against some of the finest young music groups in the UK.
This prestigious event is part of an annual festival where young musicians perform across the country with the aim of getting feedback from professional musicians, hearing other performances and the chance to be invited to the National Festival competition.
"The College Orchestra and Close Harmony Group both performed at the regional event," explains Alan Duguid of the St Ignatius College Music Department, "and they received very positive feedback from the mentors, who praised their level of performance and musicianship. We wish them the very best of luck at the event in July."
