Pray as you go

Prayer on the way to work

A Journey

On Ash Wednesday, 2006, Pray As You Go set out with a mission to help commuters meet with God on their journey into work. Armed with music and the spirituality of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, creator Fr Peter Scally SJ established one of Jesuits in Britain’s most successful ministries. 10 years on, Pray As You Go helps people all over the world not only with their journeys into work, but also on their journeys of faith.

The daily 10 minute podcasts – of scripture readings, music and reflection, are listened to by tens of thousands of people per day from all over the world, on a variety of devices.  About 4000 of these daily users listen through the apps, launched in 2014. Although Pray As You Go has grown considerably over the last 10 years, the vision remains the same: To help people encounter Christ and reflect on God’s work in their lives, wherever they are. Some of our users describe their experiences:

“In the first months of 2015 I found your website and downloaded your app.
Since then listening to it has been of very big importance to my life and my wellbeing.
It has made it easy for me to hold on to being honest and taking to heart what I read. Sharing honestly with Jesus and let the words matter in my life. I am thankful for the way my prayer life and honest talks with God are supported by these daily prayerful reflections.
I have also found help in your Examen podcasts. A reminder that God loves me no matter what (no matter how I feel about God that day, no matter my doubts, no matter how much or how little time I have dedicated to him, no matter how I have been), looking back at my day with His loving perspective - and it is a healthy sleeping pill too! I had problems going to sleep, but now I seldom get to the very end of the Examen. I recommend Pray As You Go whenever I have the chance!”

“I have been listening to PAYG for a number of years now. I Have built it into my daily routine so that I look forward to it every morning. God bless those who prepare it, you are doing God's work in a modern way.”
- Liam

“I have mostly used the daily prayer and find it wonderful and powerful. I often experience God's presence, and I am encouraged and challenged. And the music - Wow! I am often in tears as I listen. The multicultural and multinational nature of the music is inspiring. I have been recommending PAYG to our church members. Everything I have utilised on this site has been wonderful. Thank you so much.”
- Michael Palandro, USA

As Pray As You Go’s own journey continues, excitement lies ahead with the upcoming installation of a new recording studio space. Thanks to many generous donors around the world, these studio plans are beginning to become a reality, and listeners can look forward to more extra resources to accompany those already available such as Examens, Stillness Exercises, Retreats and many more.

Have you been touched by PAYG? The financial support and prayers from our supporters has brought us this far. Your donation today will help us reach out to more people that are seeking God.

Pray with us

Imaginative Contemplation is one of the most popular resources available on Pray As You Go. Saint Ignatius believed that God could speak to us through our imagination and in his Spiritual Exercises he writes of contemplation as an active way of engaging your feelings, emotions, and senses to place yourself in the scene described.  So, to celebrate our feature in ’31 Days with St Ignatius’ and also today’s feast of St Martha, we are releasing a new Imaginative Contemplation exercise called ‘Martha & Mary’. Join us to find out how you would imagine the scene…
