Online tools for biographical research on Jesuits

  • A Catalogue is produced annually by each Province of the Society of Jesus that lists the permanent address of each Jesuit residing in the particular Province for the given year, along with their dates of birth, entry to the Society and – when applicable – profession of Final Vows. The Archives of the House of the Superior General have provided online access to the SJ Catalogs 1774-1853 and 1892-1914. These can be searched by visiting:


In order to mark the centenary of WWI resources from the Archive relating to WWI will be made available here. 

  • The Archive has produced a poster on Fr Francis Woodlock SJ as part of the Explore Your Archive campaign 2014 which can be downloaded here: PDF icon JESUIT ARCHI'VE REMEMBERED POSTER.pdf
  • Fr Leslie Walker SJ was a Military Chaplain during WWI and compiled several sketchbooks during his service which are now held by the Archive. The sketches have been photographed and made available through Flickr, to view them visit
