St Ignatius day appeal
Every year on July 31st we celebrate the feast of our founder St Ignatius. For Jesuits around the world it is a time of reflection on how the teachings and example of St Ignatius relate to our ministries today. It is also the time when we ask our friends to offer financial support.
In St Ignatius' Formula of the Society of Jesus, he states;
“this Society will show itself no less useful in reconciling the estranged, in holily assisting and serving those who are found in prisons or hospitals, and indeed in performing any other good works of charity according to what shall seem expedient to the glory of God and the common good. Furthermore, all these works should be carried out altogether free of charge…”
Today the Jesuits in Britain are serving the poor and marginalised in prisons, detention centres and hospices and offering friendship and accompaniment to destitute asylum seekers, none of whom are asked to pay. We also strive to bring the gift of the Ignatian Spiritual pathway to all those seeking to know God.
This is why we need regular help from friends and supporters like you. St Ignatius’ only trip to Britain was in search of funds, and he rejoiced to find great generosity here.
Today we pray the same generosity St Ignatius found is also in you. We would like you to consider supporting our work here in Britain with a regular monthly donation.
Your regular donation reflects a commitment from you to play your part in supporting God’s work. Your regular giving will enable us to plan ahead knowing that we have a reliable source of income.
If you are not able to commit to a regular giving plan, please consider making a one off donation of any amount >>
Our prayer is that your decision will enable the Jesuits to reach out to more people in the Ignatian spirit.
