Towards a Spirituality of Dementia

This weekend is primarily for those caring for people living with dementia but would also suit anyone with an interest in dementia.

It is led by Dr John Hindle, Mrs Rose McCrave and Dr Catherine Hindle.

Dementia is a common condition with consequences for the individual, their family, friends and society. It also raises profound spiritual questions about what it means to be a ‘person’, God and faith.

The weekend will provide a mix of input sessions, prayer and opportunities for mutual exploration, discussion and sharing of experiences. This is not a silent or individually guided weekend, but there will be time for silence, reflection and rest.

Dr John Hindle is a Geriatrician with many years’ experience in the management of neurological problems of older people and of dementia and is very interested in the spirituality of dementia. Rose McCrave is a longstanding spiritual director and retreat giver at St Beuno’s. She is passionate about sharing the joys and sorrows of caring for her mother who is living with dementia and depression. Dr Catherine Hindle is a part-time GP and spiritual director at St Bueno’s. She too has many years’ experience of caring for those living with dementia and their families.

The weekend will take place at St Beuno's Jesuit Spirituality Centre in Tremeirchion, north Wales. Please register here.
