Fr Michael Flannery SJ died peacefully in the Corpus Christi Jesuit Community in Boscombe on 13th October 2018. Michael was 94 years old, and in his 78th year of Jesuit life. He had celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of his priestly ordination on St Ignatius Day.
Peter (“Bertie”) Granger-Banyard SJ died on 7th August 2018 in the St Aloysius community in Glasgow. He was 87 years old and had been a Jesuit for almost 70 years.
St Stanislaus Kostka (1550-1568) was a young man craving to become a Jesuit against all odds. He died shortly after entering the novitiate aged only 17.
Aloysius was from an aristocrat Italian family. Shortly after joining the Jesuits, he died as a result of caring for the victims of plague. He was beatified in 1605 and canonized in 1726.
