    Basset was known for his championship of the laity. He was a teacher and retreat director and wrote many books of popular spirituality
  • Bernard Vaughan SJ (1847-1922)

    Bernard Vaughan SJ

    Fr Vaughan became a Jesuit in 1866 and found fame delivering popular but controversial lectures. He was brother to Cardinal Vaughan and a friend of Edward VII.
