What hope for Syria? Talk: London

What hope for the church in Syria?

Archbishop Jean-Clément Jeanbart of the Melkite Archdiocese of Aleppo will speak on the subject 'What hope for Syria?' in Farm Street Church Hall.  All welcome.  No charge.

The talk, in cooperation with the Aid to the Church in Need UK and Aid to Eastern Christians (L’Oeuvre d’Orient), will address the real issues regarding the future of Syria's Christian community. With half of Syria’s population displaced and more than 400,000 people killed due to ongoing civil war, Archbishop Jeanbart is visiting London to convey a message of hope for the future of Syria and to ask support in helping Syrians to remain in the country where they belong. His diocese has established a development programme offering concrete aid to the benefit of small businesses, to rebuild small workshops, and to repair homes damaged in the civil war.  Called “Build to Stay,” the programme aims at gathering a large number of faithful who are convinced of the need for a continued Christian presence in Syria. “If you want to help us, help us support those Christians who have decided to stay to ensure the perennial Christian presence in the country", says the Archbishop".
