Jesuits in Britain host law and religion conference in Nairobi, Kenya

May 15, 2022

Under the auspices of the Jesuit's Hekima University College in Nairobi, the African Consortium of Law and Religion (ACLARS) is holding their annual meeting to discuss the issues affecting the continent.

This year’s theme is that of Law, Religion, Health and Healing in Africa, which is particularly apt given the recent and ongoing pandemic.

The role of women and the place of the family, COVID vaccine hesitancy, African independent churches, traditional healing and medicine, gender violence, and the legal regulation of health are just some topics among the many being discussed.

Hekima University College is the largest English-speaking Jesuit theology college in Africa, with over fifty Scholastics and other Religious, and is delighted to be hosting this conference as it brings together over one hundred people from a religious, government, and academic background, and others from across the globe.

We are especially pleased that there will be many from across the African continent who are familiar with health and healing at the grassroots level.

The conference is being hosted for the College by Dr James Campbell SJ, and will include talks given by Dr Orobator SJ, President of JCAM, and Dr Okoria SJ, College Principal. To learn more about Hekima University College, please click here.
