Presenting: The Hundred-Foot Journey (2 hours 2 minutes)
The Tim Hetherington Film Club at Farm Street opens its 2026/27 season with The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014), a heartwarming comedy-drama starring Helen Mirren, Om Puri and Manish Dayal.
Directed by Lasse Hallström, the film follows an Indian family who settle in a picturesque village in the south of France and open a restaurant directly opposite an established Michelin-starred French restaurant. Its formidable owner, Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren), is less than pleased by the arrival of her new neighbours, sparking a spirited culinary rivalry.
As tensions rise between the two establishments, the family’s gifted young chef, Hassan (Manish Dayal), discovers that a shared passion for food can help bridge cultural divides and bring people together.
Full of humour, warmth and mouth-watering cuisine, The Hundred-Foot Journey is an uplifting story about family, ambition and the joy of discovering common ground. Join us for an enjoyable evening of film as we begin the new season.
