Film: The Angels' Share, directed by Ken Loach (101 minutes)
The Angels’ Share follows Robbie, a young man in Glasgow who avoids prison and is sentenced to community service. Trying to turn his life around for his girlfriend and newborn son, he struggles to escape his violent past.
During his sentence, he meets a group of fellow offenders and is guided by their supervisor, Harry, who introduces them to the world of whisky. Robbie discovers he has a rare talent for tasting and identifying high-quality whisky.
When they learn about a cask of extremely valuable whisky, Robbie and his friends plan a small heist to steal some of it and sell it. The scheme becomes their chance to make enough money to start fresh.
In the end, Robbie succeeds, using the opportunity to secure a better future for his family and break away from his old life.
In short: it’s a feel-good mix of comedy and drama about redemption, friendship, and second chances, built around an unconventional whisky heist.
