Introduction

After requests to lighten the tone of the Film Club, this month we are showing a timeless comedy, with a whimsical Irish flavour, namely ‘Waking Ned' – how far would you go to win a fortune?’ Starring Irish perennials Ian Bannen, David Kelly and Fionnula Flanagan, this 1998 film also features an early performance by James Nesbitt. When someone in a remote and tiny Irish village wins the lottery but then dies of shock, the remaining villagers face the challenge of waking Ned to bring the money home. Huge fun!
