As the Jesuit centre for research and scholarship within the University of Oxford, Campion Hall brings together students and scholars from around the world, fostering a vibrant and internationally diverse community united by intellectual curiosity, dialogue and a commitment to academic excellence.
This year’s incoming students reflect the remarkable breadth of scholarship at the Hall, pursuing postgraduate degrees across disciplines including Theology and Religion, Eastern Christian Studies, Jewish Studies, Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, Linguistics, Architectural History, Practical Ethics and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy.
The students’ research interests are equally varied, ranging from early Christian liturgy, New Testament studies and the relationship between science and religion to language acquisition, ecotheology, and the ethical challenges posed by artificial intelligence. Other areas of study include Christian ethics and politics, intercultural dialogue, and the relationship between the individual and the wider community.
Together, these diverse academic pursuits reflect Campion Hall’s distinctive commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and to exploring questions of faith, culture, ethics and contemporary society.
Rev Dr Nick Austin SJ, Master of Campion Hall, said:
“It is a wonderful moment to welcome such a gifted group of students to Campion Hall. Already, conversations are springing up across disciplines, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas into our community. I look forward to seeing where these conversations lead, and to all that we will learn from one another in the year ahead.”
Beyond their academic interests, the new cohort brings a wealth of international experience and perspectives to the Hall, enriching its intellectual and communal life. Campion Hall looks forward to the contributions they will make throughout their time in Oxford.
Campion Hall is one of four Permanent Private Halls of the University of Oxford. Located in the heart of the city, it offers accommodation and academic support for postgraduate students and welcomes scholars from a wide range of disciplines, particularly within the social sciences, humanities, religious studies, theology and philosophy.
