Encountering the Risen Christ: Jesuit resources for Holy Week and Easter 2026

March 27, 2026

We are moving from the reflective season of Lent into the joy of Easter. In the spirit of St Ignatius, we are invited to encounter the Risen Christ not just as a historical event, but as the living source of consolation, hope, and mission in our lives.

Whether you're looking for a parish to celebrate with, a retreat to deepen your prayer, or a way to connect with other young adults in faith, there's something for everyone across our Jesuit communities this Holy Week.

From Ignatian imagination and guided spiritual exercises to multilingual liturgies and opportunities for justice and mission, our parishes, retreat centres, and digital platforms offer many ways to encounter the Risen Christ.

Ignatian retreats and resources

If you'd like to go deeper in prayer this Holy Week, our retreat centres and online platforms offer a range of guided and self-led options:

Jesuit Institute

  • Imagine online prayer session reflecting on Christ’s entry into Jerusalem as a non-violent witness, using Ignatian imagination to discern where we stand and how we are called this Holy Week.
  • A short Ignatian prayer exercise inspired by the Spiritual Exercises to help you place Jesus more fully at the centre of their lives this Holy Week.

St Beuno’s Jesuit Spirituality Centre, St Asaph

  • Easter at St Beuno's, a three-day retreat offering talks, guided prayer, and periods of silence, with plenty of opportunity to mix and socialise with fellow retreatants.
  • Reflect on Palm Sunday, a Palm Sunday reflection on Christ’s journey from the joyful welcome of His entry into Jerusalem to the solemn remembrance of His Passion. The reflection helps participants enter more deeply into the meaning of the day.
  • A set of practical Holy Week resources to help you pray each day, drawing on Ignatian imagination and guided exercises to reflect on our own relationship with Jesus throughout this sacred week.

The Ignatian Spirituality Centre, Glasgow

  • Online Through Lent with St Matthew retreat providing daily Scripture, music and reflection based on the Gospel of Matthew through Lent and into Holy Week, helping participants pray each day with the season’s themes.

Our Jesuit prayer app, Pray As You Go, provides daily audio reflections rooted in Ignatian spirituality, helping you pray with Scripture and enter more deeply into the events of Holy Week, while Thinking Faith offers insightful articles exploring the theological and spiritual dimensions of Holy Week, Easter and beyond.

Young adult ministries

Meet at Charing Cross at 10.55am for the 11am start; the performance begins at 12pm. Farm Street Church will also host a Good Friday concert of musical reflections on Christ’s last words, performed by the young adult choir and pianist Bobby Chen, followed by veneration of a relic of the True Cross. All are welcome to attend the concert which begins at 7.00pm.
  • Glasgow: young adults in their 20s and 30s gather every Sunday evening at 7.00 pm at the Ignatian Spirituality Centre, Scott Street. The evening includes a meal, fellowship, and a talk or period of group reflection and individual prayer, ending with Mass at 9.00 pm in the Church.
  • Edinburgh: the young adult community is centred around The Seven, the 7pm Sunday Mass at Sacred Heart Church, with a programme offering opportunities for deeper prayer, spiritual development, adult faith formation, and service of others.
