Heythrop Library scholarships available until the end of the year

The Heythrop Library, a collection of over 200,000 books and journals (some in the collection since 1614) has just announced a broadening of eligibility criteria for the remaining six Professor CSP Hunter scholarships for 2024.

Applications are open until the 5th November 2024, for starting the scholarship in 2024. Recipients of these scholarships also can suggest books to the library, which might support their research. The library adds between 700 and 800 new books per year, primarily in philosophy and theology.

Clemens Gresser, Heythrop Librarian, explained:

"This is the second year of being generously sponsored by Professor Carl Stephen Hunter to offer these scholarships, but we felt that we were still not reaching enough researchers and academics. In consultation with Professor Hunter we have now removed certain criteria, so that anyone with at least a Master’s in philosophy or theology can apply. We still believe that applicants should live in easy-travelling distance to benefit from our collections which are 99.9% print."
