Ahead of the feast, Jesuits in Britain has launched a new YouTube series of short videos on the life, spirituality and legacy of St Ignatius.
Through these reflections, contributors share insights into his conversion, the Spiritual Exercises, Jesuit vocation stories and why Ignatian spirituality continues to resonate today. You can watch the first video below, with the remaining videos available through the playlist.
One of the highlights of this year’s celebrations will take place at Farm Street Church in London, where a Solemn Mass will be celebrated at 6.00pm. His Excellency Miguel Maury Buendía, Apostolic Nuncio to Great Britain, will be the principal celebrant and preacher. For those unable to attend in person, the Mass will be livestreamed here.
St Ignatius Parish in Stamford Hill will celebrate Mass at 10.00am, followed by refreshments in the parish hall. The Sacred Heart parish in Edinburgh will celebrate Masses at 8.00am and 12.30pm, while St Aloysius Church in Glasgow will mark the feast at both Masses (8.00am and 12.15pm) before inviting the parish community to lunch in the Ogilvie Centre.
In Lancashire, parishioners from St Wilfrid’s, Preston, will join the communities of St Peter and St Joseph, Stonyhurst, for Evening Prayer at 6.00pm in St Joseph’s School Chapel, Hurst Green, followed by pizza and refreshments. All are welcome.
At the Holy Name Church, home to the Manchester Universities Catholic Chaplaincy, Mass will be celebrated at 12.30pm. Although the university is in its summer vacation, the parish community will still mark the Feast of St Ignatius with the celebration of the Eucharist.
