In the extended interview, Fr Peter shares his experience of the ten-day meeting, which brought together Jesuit leaders from around the world for prayer, reflection, and conversation about the future of the Society. The gathering also included a visit from Pope Leo XIV, whom Fr Peter met for the first time.
Fr Peter was particularly moved by the superiors’ pilgrimage to the Holy Door of St Peter’s Basilica. He also reflects on key themes that emerged from the meeting, such as collaboration, safeguarding, and the Ignatian charism, alongside what continues to inspire him about Jesuits working across diverse global contexts.
Despite the wide range of cultures and situations represented, he highlights a shared calling among Jesuits to find their place in mission and to recognise one another as companions in that work.
These themes are also explored in his recent article, ‘Confirmed in our vocation’, published on Page 4 of Jesuits & Friends Issue 123 (Spring 2026), which you can read online here. In it, he reflects on the importance of discernment, attentiveness to the Holy Spirit, and trust in the transformative power of God’s love, particularly in a world marked by uncertainty and challenge.
Both the video and the article offer a personal and reflective insight into a significant moment for the global Society, seen through the eyes of the British Provincial.
