The Jesuits in Britain are looking to appoint an Investment & Responsible Investment Officer to support the long-term financial sustainability of our work and strengthen our approach to responsible investment.
Our financial assets have been built up over many years through the generosity of benefactors and carefully stewarded over generations. They are invested across a range of long-term investments, including global equities, real estate and cash, with much of the portfolio managed by external investment managers.
Working closely with the Treasurer, Finance Director, Investment Committee and external investment managers, the successful candidate will help develop, implement and monitor our investment strategy, oversee investment performance and risk, and provide clear reporting to trustees and senior leadership.
A significant part of the role will focus on responsible and ethical investment. This will include working with responsible investment networks, engaging with companies in which the Jesuits have shareholdings, monitoring shareholder voting and helping ensure that our investment portfolio is managed in a way that reflects our values and contributes to the common good.
We are looking for someone with significant investment experience, ideally gained on the client or asset-owner side in an institutional or asset management environment. You will have a strong understanding of investment principles, portfolio construction, risk, asset allocation and manager oversight, alongside excellent analytical and communication skills.
You will also have a genuine interest in responsible and ethical investment and sympathy with the mission of the Catholic Church and the Jesuits in Britain. Being Catholic is not an occupational requirement for this role.
