The Fellowship is a fixed-term appointment of two years, from 1 October 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. It is supported by the British Province of Jesuits, in accordance with the practices of the Society of Jesus.
Candidates will normally be within three years of completion of their doctoral degree, although those who have submitted but not yet defended their thesis may also be considered. Applicants from any part of the world are welcome, subject to visa restrictions.
The Fellow will devise, carry out and manage their own research project at an advanced level in their field. They will be resident in Campion Hall, participate in community life, and contribute to the academic programme during term time. A research allowance of typically up to £1,000 per annum will be available.
While open to all disciplines, applications are particularly welcomed from those whose research takes a transdisciplinary approach and relates to the Hall’s research strengths, including integral ecology, refugee studies, and other fields in the social sciences and humanities.
In addition to their research, the Fellow will be asked to contribute to the Hall’s engagement with the local community in Oxford, on average one day per week.
Full details of how to apply can be found here. The closing date for applications is Monday 25 May 2026. Interviews will be held in the week beginning 1 June 2026.
