Published quarterly and available on our website, this update shares news of our continued efforts to build a more sustainable and just future. Our goal is to play a meaningful part in reaching Net Zero emissions by 2050 and halving emissions by 2030.
Each issue offers insight into the practical steps we are taking, such as divesting from fossil fuels, supporting workers’ rights, holding companies to account, and reducing our environmental impact across Jesuit communities in Britain.
Continuing to invest with integrity
As we move through AGM (Annual General Meeting) season, we’re making use of our role as shareholders to press companies on the issues that matter, especially climate action and social responsibility. One of our key voting guidelines is to vote against the CEOs of high-emission companies that don’t have a credible plan to cut their carbon footprint in line with a below 2°C pathway.
This kind of engagement is bearing fruit. For example, our investment partner CCLA filed a shareholder resolution at NextEra Energy in late 2024, pushing for greater transparency around climate lobbying. After constructive dialogue, the company agreed to new disclosures, and the resolution was withdrawn in early 2025.
In the last quarter, we also joined calls with several companies to ask about climate strategies and ethnicity pay gap reporting. These conversations are part of our broader commitment to investing in a way that aligns with our values and contributes to meaningful change.
Harnessing solar power at Corpus Christi in Boscombe
The Corpus Christi Jesuit Community in Boscombe is now powered by the sun! A recent solar panel installation has exceeded expectations, generating enough energy to meet all current usage needs during this season of long daylight. Looking ahead, the community plans to further reduce its carbon footprint by upgrading its boiler system and improving energy efficiency through a smarter Building Management System that prioritises solar-powered hot water.
