Archbishop Richard Moth visits homeless lunch at Farm Street Church

April 15, 2026

London, 15 April 2026 — Today, the Archbishop of Westminster, Richard Moth, visited the homeless outreach lunch in the Jesuit-run Farm Street Church, organised by Central London Catholic Churches (CLCC).

Since his installation on 14th February 2026 at Westminster Cathedral, the Archbishop has begun visiting Catholic charitable organisations across London, including the Jesuit Refugee Service UK (JRS UK) in Wapping last month, where he praised the work being done to support those who have been forced to flee their homes.

Around 60 people came along to the lunch at Arrupe Hall in Farm Street Church, where guests were served a hot meal, including a chicken curry, along with tea and coffee. Volunteers welcomed attendees and assisted throughout the afternoon. The Archbishop also visited the Jesuit-run Cana Café, which offers meals in Mayfair without Mayfair prices and provides catering training for unemployed homeless people.

CLCC was formed at the start of the first UK lockdown in March 2020, bringing together volunteers from across London parishes to respond to urgent need. Initially operating from Trafalgar Square, the group now runs regular services from Arrupe Hall, providing cooked lunches on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

During the visit, Archbishop Moth moved between tables, speaking with guests and listening to their experiences. His presence was warmly received, with many expressing appreciation not only for the meal but for the opportunity to be heard.

In one moment of quiet significance, a guest took the Archbishop’s hand and placed it to her head in a gesture of blessing, while others greeted him with handshakes and conversation.

Clergy including the Provincial Superior of Jesuits in Britain, Fr Peter Gallagher SJ, and the priest at Farm Street Church, Fr Dominic Robinson SJ, were also present, engaging with both the Archbishop and those attending.

Conversations during the visit highlighted the importance of outreach initiatives such as this, and their role in supporting vulnerable members of the community.

The visit reflected a wider commitment within the Church to accompany those on the margins, offering not only practical support but also dignity, welcome, and human connection.
