As the Season of Creation 2026 approaches, Jesuit Missions has launched a range of new resources for parishes and schools, centred on this year’s theme, Living Water. Celebrated from 1 September to 4 October, the season encourages prayer, reflection and action for our common home.
This year’s theme, Living Water, is inspired by the biblical vision in Ezekiel 47:1–12, in which life-giving water flows from the temple of God, bringing renewal to the land and sustaining life. Through this theme, Jesuit Missions encourages people to look closely at water issues within their own communities while deepening their understanding of the realities faced by vulnerable communities in the Global South.
Drawing on the experience of Jesuit project partners around the world, the resources highlight how climate change is intensifying drought, water scarcity and environmental degradation, disproportionately affecting those with the fewest resources to respond.
For parish communities, Jesuit Missions is hosting a Sustainability Picnic in Glasgow, exploring the connections between water challenges in Scotland and Madagascar.
A ready-to-use Sustainability Picnic and Coffee Morning resource pack is available for parishes wishing to organise their own gatherings.
These materials encourage discussion around emerging water concerns in the UK, including drought and water management, while drawing meaningful links with communities across the Global South where the impacts of drought are often more severe and further compounded by climate change.

In Jesuit schools, specially designed educational resources enable pupils to investigate water-related challenges in their paired Jesuit Missions project countries.
The resources encourage young people to take local action by campaigning to reduce water pollution and consumption, while reflecting on the Jesuit virtues of being faith-filled and hopeful, and committed to caring for our common home.

In November, senior Jesuit schools will come together regionally for a series of mini-UN COP conferences, giving students practical insight into international climate negotiations and advocacy.
At Stonyhurst College, pupils from St Aloysius' College will represent Madagascar, while Stonyhurst students will act as delegates for South Sudan, researching water challenges and proposing solutions on behalf of their assigned countries. In London, students from St Ignatius College will represent India, while delegates from Wimbledon College will represent South Sudan, undertaking similar work.
The conferences will give young people a deeper appreciation of global climate summits and encourage them to advocate for countries that are among the most affected by climate change yet often have the least influence in shaping international responses.
Through prayer, education, community engagement and advocacy, Jesuit Missions' Season of Creation 2026 programme seeks to inspire greater solidarity and action, encouraging communities across the UK to recognise our shared responsibility to protect this precious resource and stand alongside those most impacted by the climate crisis.
